How to become a member

JOINING BY BAPTISM
 
Any person believing that:
1. God is the Creator and keeper of the world and all therein,
2. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God gave His Son to die to save the world from sin
3. That God raised Jesus from the dead
4.  And  willing to adopt and abide by the views of faith and practices held by the Salem Missionary Baptist Church may, upon baptism, be received into this membership.


 
JOINING BY LETTER

Persons from other churches holding the same faith may be received into this membership by letter of recommendation or dismissal from heir respective churches.

 
JOINING BY CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE, REINSTATEMENT OR WATCH CARE
 
CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE: Persons who have been members of other Baptist churches and because of circumstances are no longer active in church, can join by their Christian Experience.

REINSTATEMENT: Members of Salem who have not been in active attendance for six (6) months or more, may be received by Reinstatement.  

WATCH CARE: Persons who are members of other churches of the same Baptist denomination, who are temporarily unable to attend their home church, may become a member of Salem under Watch Care. (Students, job relocation, etc.)
All persons joining Salem by any of the above must attend the New Member's Orientation.



NEW MEMBER’S ORIENTATION

The purpose: To ensure persons joining Salem Baptist Church receive a good Christian foundation, and they understand the doctrine, beliefs and practices of the Salem Baptist Church; and to give them a feeling of belonging and help them find a place to do the Lord’s work based on their God given talents and gifts.
